Malvaviscus arboreus var Mexicanus is carefree and produces ornamental
looking blooms year long; these flowers attract hummingbirds, bees
and butterflies. and they resemble Turkish turban, hence one of
the common names, Turk's Cap. Prune Texas Wax Mallow in winter to
maintain shape and promote more blooms. Cardinal's Hat loves the
heat and is easily propagated from cuttings or seeds. Other
varieties include a white and a pink.
