Comments:
Anigozanthos flavidus 'Bush
Spark' or Cat's Paw
or Kangaroo Paw is an eye-catching perennial with a clumping
growth habit. In late Spring or early Summer, maroon,
nectar-rich hairy flowers
appear on long stalks. The unique long lasting cut flowers of
Kangaroo Paw
are a hit among the florists.
Birds love to perch on the long stalks and they are the pollinators of
Anigozanthos flavidus 'Bush
Spark'.
Cat's Paw is easily
propagated from seeds in spring or Summer while rootball divisions are
done in Summer. In its conducive environment, Kangaroo Paw
can reach as tall as 10 feet. Dbe careful not to overwater so as
not to get Ink Spot disease. Divide
plants every few years to prevent fungus. Trim back to the ground in late
Winter.
Anigozanthos flavidus 'Bush
Spark' can
be mass planted as a focal point, in rock gardens. It is an
ideal xeriscaping plant.
Cat's Paw stops traffic.
