Comments:
Dictamnus albus 'Rubra' or
Rose Gas Plant is an exotic long-lived unusual perennial bush with an upright clumping
growth habit. Interestingly,
it is Rose Franklin's favorite perennial plant. In late Spring, pretty
spikes of rose colored blossoms appear in racemes atop the dark
green lemon-scented leaves. The blossoms lasts for several
weeks and emit fumes that will ignite.
Dictamnus albus 'Rubra'
is a host for the
Giant Swallow butterflies. This deer resistant plant
can be grown from seeds.
Add a small amount of lime at time of planting since it loves
alkalinic soil.
Rose Gas Plant
prefers a full to part sun environment. Plant it in a
permanent location as it does not like its roots disturbed.
Dictamnus albus 'Rubra'
makes an attractive
front or middle of the border accent plant in
the landscape; it can also be container cultivated to add colors to the porch or deck.
Rose Gas
Plant is low maintenance and carefree. It makes a fabulous foliage
plant in the absence of flowers.
Dictamnus albus 'Rubra'
draws foot traffic.
