Family:  Iridaceae
Origin:  Native of Southern Mexiao and Brazil 
Light:  AM sun, PM shade

Blooms:  Blue and white flowers, last only a day but the same stem will bear a flower multiple times
Foliage:  Evergreen, long, smooth, linear
Soil: 
Well-drained, keep moist
Water:  Abundant
Propagation:  Seeds, divisions,  remove baby air-roots plant from mother by snipping it and plant it separately.
Uses:  Border, bedding
Comments:  Neomarica gracilis or Walking Iris or Twelve Apostles or Apostle Plant or Marica Plant is a lovely tropical perennial which is cold hardy to about 30degF.  This plant has a grass-like clumping habit and loves being misted.  The leaves represent the diciples while Jesus is represented as the main stalk with flower.  The seeds are enclosed in a capsule with several cavities.
Interesitng note:  It is believed that Apostle Plant got its name from the legend that the plant will not bloom until it has 12 leaves on it.
