Comments: Talinum paniculatum 'Variegatum' or Variegated Jewels of
Opar or Fame Flower is a carefree tropical
perennial with a mounding growth habit. The interesting pink flowers on
reddish wiry
stems rise 2' from the leaves; they the turn into tiny yellow balls
which contain seeds inside.
Talinum
paniculatum 'Variegatum' self-sows freely and is easily grown from seeds
or stem
cuttings. Fame Flower thrives well in bright filtered light
and can tolerate drought conditions well. I grow Variegated Jewels of
Opar or Fame Flower for their lovely foliage variegation. Plant
them en masses for a dramatic effect in the xeriscaping effect or grow
them in your favorite container to decorate your patio or deck.
For colder areas, bring indoors for the Winter.
