Comments: Paeonia lactifolia 'Walter Main' or Peony is a beautiful cold-hardy and
carefree shrub that
attracts birds and butterflies. Peony resent being moved;
move them only in the Fall. Prune to remove deadwood after plants leafout in Spring.
Remove spent flowers. Stake blooms early to prevent from resting in soil.
Protect from wind. Good air circulation will help prevent disease.
Mulch with 2" hay or straw in Fall to protect from cold. 'Walter Main'
Peony is a long-lived herbaceous shrub. It was the winner of the American
Peony Society Gold Medal.
