Prunus glandulosa 'Rosea Plena' or Dwarf Flowering Almond or Pink
Flowering Almond is an ornamental deciduous shrub with an erect growth
habit. In early Spring, abundant red buds appear along twigs which open
into showy small, double-ruffled, round cherry-like blossoms. The
flowers appear before the foliage does. Butterflies
and bees are magnetized by its nectar-rich blossoms. Prunus glandulosa
'Rosea Plena' has shiny green leaves which turn into lovely yellow in
the Fall adding much interest in the landscape. Pink Dwarf Flowering
Almond is easily propagated from softwood cuttings. It thrives best in
well-drained soil in a sunny or part sun location. Pink Flowering
Almond is low maintenance and tolerates drought conditions. It makes a
delightful accent or specimen bush in the dry landscape. Use Prunus
glandulosa 'Rosea Plena' as a border or foundation plant. This
beautiful compact bush attracts a lot of attention and definitely stops
foot traffic.
