Comments:  Pulmonaria saccharata or Bethlehem Sage or Jerusalem Sage, Lungwort is a peennial with a low mounding growth habit  . It is a native of Europe and Western Asia.  In mid-Spring, Pulmonaria sacchhen turns purple and then ages to blue, followed later by seeds.  All three colors can be seen on the plant and it makes it look awesome.  Bethlehem Sage has very eye-catching foliage with silver mottling on them.  It makes an excellent foliage plant in the absence of its flowers.  Lungwort is easily propagated from seeds or rootball divisions.  It thrives best in well-drained, moist, neutral to alkaline soil in a part to full shade.  Pulmonaria saccharata is low maintenance and self sows readily.  Deadhead to promote prolonged flowering.  Divide every few years when overcrowded.  Mass plant Jerusalem Sage for a terrific looking groundcover.  It brightens the shade garden.   Grow them under taller trees or shrubs for a fabulous show stopper.
