Comments:  Rosa alba 'White Rose of York' or Alba or Antique Rose or Bonnie Prince Rose or Bonnie Prince Charlie's Rose or La Rose d'York or Old Garden Rose or Alba nivea Rose or Alba Semi-Plena Rose or Alba suaveolens Rose is a perennial subshrub with an upright growth habit.  It is a 16th Century heirloom rose.  In late Spring or early Summer, Rosa alba 'White Rose of York' produces prolific clusters of very fragrant gorgeous white semi-doubled petaled flowers, followed later by lovely rose hips in the Fall.  Florists are delighted with the fresh cut flowers.  Butterflies and bees are magnetized by its nectar-rich blossoms.  Alba flowers also make superb potpourri.  Antique Rose is easily propagated from seeds, softwood cuttings, semi-hardwood cuttings or hardwood cuttings taken in Spring.  La Rose d'York also propagates well with hardwood heel cuttings.  It performs best in well-drained, richly composted soil in a sunny location  Old Garden Rose also tolerates part shade environment.  Mass plant Alba nivea Rose in edging for a terrific display.  Trim plant after flowering season is over as the blooms appear on old wood. The fragrance is irristible as it permeates through the Summer garden.  Alba Semi-Plena Rose is renowned for making the concentrated rose oil called attar.  Alba suaveolens Rose is a fabulous showstopper.
