Comments: Rosa 'Louis Philippe' or Bengale Rose or China Rose or Cracker Rose or Tea Rose is a historic bush rose, popularly grown in the south. It is a hybrid by hybridizer, Guerin (1834). From late Spring till frost, Rosa 'Louise Phillipe' produces very fragrant, large, cupped, double deep pink flowers with pinkish-white centers, borne on new wood. The freshly cut flowers make a lovely bouquet while the dried flowers are great for potpourris. China Rose 'Louis Philippe' has deciduous, glossy ovate, finely serrated, bright green foliage that are red when young. Bengale Rose is easily propagated from grafting budding or stem cuttings. It thrives best in well-drained, sandy, clayey, loamy, acidic or alkaline soil in a sunny environment. Cracker rose 'Louis Phillip' is low maintenance and it can be prune to size. It makes an eye-catching stand alone specimen or grow them as attractive hedges. This large, antique tea rose bush can still be found in very old homesteads due to its ease of growth, propagation and favorable climatic conditions.
