Rose or Nearly Thornless Old Garden Rose is an antique shrub rose with an upright,
multi-stemmed shrub with a fast, suckering growth habit. It is a 16th Century noble rose either registered or introduced. In late Spring, Rosa alba 'Maxima' produces profuse, very fragrant white blossoms, borne on old wood. It has showy blue-green compound, oval-shaped leaves. The freshly cut flowers of Bonnie Prince Charlie's Rose make a lovely bouquet. The dried flowers are excellent for potpourris, Old Garden Rose can be propagated from cuttings or from suckers. It thrives best in well-drained, neutral to mildly alkaline soil in a sunny environment. Cheshire Rose tolerates part shade. Mass plant Great Double white Rose for a terrific looking hedge or as a privacy screen. Trim after
flowering for abundant blooms next season. Grow Great Double White Rose is very thorny. Grow it away from children or foot traffic. Jacobite
Rose look fabulous as an accent plant. Rosa alba 'Maxima' permeates the Spring and Summer landscape. It is a terrific show stopper.
