Comments: Rosa chinensis or Old Blush Rose or Old Bush Rose is an old shrub with a rounded growth habit. It is a native of China. From mid-Spring till Fall, Rosa chinensis produces prolific, fragrant flowers with shade of pink to red. The freshly cut or dired flowers make lovely floral arrangements. After flowering is over, China Rose produces red hips in the Fall. It has green, pinnate foliage. Rosa chinensis is easily propagated from cuttings. It performs best in well-drained soil, in a sunny to part shade environment. Deadhead after flower to promote more blooms. China Rose is popularly cultivated for its ornamental vlaue and its disease resistance. It can also be container cultivated. The Chinese fine Rosa chinensis valuable as a medicinal plant and use the flowers and hips to treat thyroid problems and menstruation problems. China Rose is the proud parent of many of today's hybrid and garden roses.
