Comments:  Ruellia brittoniana 'Pink Katie' or Mexican Dwarf Pink Petunia
 is a low-growing plant with a medium, clumping growth habit.  Named a 'Texas Superstar' by Texas A & M University, it is a vigorous groundcover and often used as edging plants.  From mid-Spring till frost, clusters of lovely funnel-shaped flowers appear on top of the plant.  Butterflies and bees are magnetized by its nectar-rich blossoms.  Ruellia brittoniana 'Pink Katie' has dark green narrow, sword-shaped foliage with a metallic tinge to it.  It is easily propagated from seeds, stem cuttings or rootball divisions.  Mexican Dwarf Pink Petunia thrives best in well-drained soil in a  sunny to part shade environment.  It is low maintenance and tolerates drought well when established.  Ruellia brittoniana 'Pink Katie' is heat loving.  It self sows readily and soon forms a nice clump.  Mass plant Mexican Dwarf Pink Petunia in borders, or as edging plants along walkways or driveways or a showy display.  It is an excellent groundcover for the dry area of the garden and soon covers a barren area quickly.  Ruellia brittoniana 'Pink Katie' can also be container cultivated.  It is eye-catching and continuously blooms its heart out in the Summer landscape.  Mexican Dwarf Petunia is also available in violet or white form.
