Comments: Styrax japonicus or Japanese Snowbell is a deciduous tree
with a slow, erect growth habit. It is a native of China, Korea and
Japan. In late Spring, Styrax japonicus produces pendulous fragrant
white blossoms among lovely bronze-green foliage. This is followed
later by seedpods. Japanese Snowbell is easily propagated from seeds or
suckers. It performs best in well-drained, moist soil in a sunny
location. Styrax japonicus makes an excellent shade tree. Its ornate
beauty makes it a much sought after tree for the landscape. It feels
heavenly to walk beneath it during blossoming season and the fragrance
is certainly pleasing. Japanese Snowbell is very showy and it draws a
lot of attention. stops foot traffic.
