It is of hybrid origin, by French hybridizer Leonid Kolesnikov (1943). In mid-Spring Syringa vulgaris 'Krasavitsa Moskvy' produces abundant panicles of large fragrant pink buds which opens to white blossoms followed later by seeds. Bees and butterflies are magnetized by its nectar-rich blossoms while birds enjoy feasting on the seeds. Florists are delighted with the cut flowers. Beauty of Moscow is easily propagated from grafting, layering, suckers and softwood cuttings. Seeds however would not come true to parent. Syringa vulgaris 'Krasavitsa Moskvy' performs best in well-drained, moderately moist, rich, acidic soil in a sunny location. Use it as a fine specimen plant.
