Comments: Syringa reticulata or Japanese Lilac Tree is a small deciduous tree with a. medium growth rate. It is a native of Japan, China, Korea, heastern Asia and southeastern Russia. In late Spring or early Summer, Syringa reticulata produces abundant foot-long clusters of extremely fragrant creamy white blossoms followed by brown capsules. Japanese Lilac Tree is easily propagated from seeds, woody stem cuttings or layering. It thrives best in well-drained acidic, neutral or alkaline soil, in a sunny to part shade location. Syringa reticulata tolerates drought conditions when established. It makes an excellent specimen tree or in group plantings. In Fall, Japanese Lilac Tree attracts a lot of attention when the dark green foliage turns a a lovely yellow in color adding a glow to the landscape. Syringa reticulata is very showy and its permeating fragrance is very inviting in the Summer garden.
