Comments:  Tiarella cordifolia or Allegheny Foamflower or False Mitrewort or Running Foam Flower is a low growing perennial with a stoloniferous spreading growth habit. It is a wildflower native to north eastern United States.  In early Spring, Tiarella cordifolia produces fairywand-like white or pale pink blossoms atop heuchera-like green foliage turns burgundy in Fall.  This is followed later by seeds.  Allegheny Foamflower is easily propagated from seeds or rootball divisions taken in Spring.  It thrives best in most soil, preferably  well-drained, moist, organic-rich soil in a shady location.  Mass plant False Mitrewort as lovely groundcovers in the shade garden or as border plants. It quickly fills up a nice area.  Use it as edging plants or under taller shrubs or trees; it quickly spreads forming a nice carpet.  It is decidous in colder areas.  In its native habitat, it is often found growing in moist, rich woods.

USDA Zones: 4-8
