Comments: Vinca minor 'Illumination' or Common Periwinkle or Creeping Myrtle or Flower-of-Death is a hardy perennial vining subshrub with a fast, trailing growth habit. From mid-Spring till mid-Fall, this fantastic hybrid produces striking blue solitary blossoms appearing on leaf axils. Vinca minor 'Illumination' has outstanding leathery, glossy variegated foliage in bright gold, distinctly edged in deep green. It is easily propagated from layering, softwood cuttings or rootball divisions. Common Periwinkle 'Illumination' performs best in mildly acidic, neural or mildly alkaline soil in a sunny to full shade location. It produces roots along stems as it touches the soil which helps form a nice colony quickly. Mass plant Creeping Myrtle 'Illumination' as eye-catching groundcovers and allow them to roam freely, forming a gorgeous carpet under taller trees or shrubs. It adds color h the shady areas of the landscape. Flower-of-Death 'Illumination' looks showy in window boxes or hanging baskets as they cascade down the sides. This low maintenance creeper looks awesome as an accent plant or in mixed planting. Vinca minor 'Illumination' stands out in floral arrangements. It is a terrific showstopper.
