Allamanda cathartica or
Golden Trumpet Vine is a fast growing climber with beautiful golden trumpet blossoms, hence its common name.  The genus of this tropical perennial vine came from Frederic-Louis Allamand, an 18th century Swiss doctor.  Golden Trumpet Vine can reach as long as 15 feet. Its lovely blossoms add a breath of sunshine to the perennial garden. Allamanda cathartica looks remarkable climbing onto a trellis or gow it in a hanging basket, allowing the vine to cascade down the side of the it. Golden Trumpet Vine makes an excellent fencing plant or a ground cover as well.  It is easily propagated by cuttings taken in the Spring.
