Campsis radicans 'Jersey Peach'
(Orange Trumpet Creeper, Trumpet Vine, Cow-itch)  

Synonyms:  Bignonia radicans, Tecoma radicans
Origin:  Native to south-eastern USA
Family:  Bignoniaceae

Light:  Sun-part shaden
Height:  Can reach up to 40'
Spread:  12-15'
Blooms:  Big, beautiful clusters of 6-12 long tubular orange flowers, early Summer.  Also comes in red and in yellow
Foliage:   Lustrous, serrated, dark green, pinnate with 7-11 oval pointed leaflets
Fruit:  Flattened, elongated pods with many many papery winged seeds
Soil:  Well-drained, deep, fertile, drought tolerant when established

Water:  Regular
Propagation:  Seeds, stem cuttings, layering
Uses:  Screening, fencing, trellis, arbor, landscaping 
Insect/Disease:  Watch out for aphids
Caution:  All parts of plant are poisonous - may cause allergic reaction
Comments:  Campsis radicans 'Jersey Peach' or Bignonia radicans or Tecoma radicans or Orange Trumpet Creeper or Trumpet Vine or Cow-itch is a popular woody flowering vine with aeiral rootlets.  This is an aggressive, care-free woody  tropical perennial vine that climbs by attaching onto any surface. Campsis radicans is a bees, butterflies and hummgingbird attractant. It can tolerate temperatures of down to -5 degrees F.  Prune vine back in Spring
Interesting Note:  'Campsis' is Greek word for 'curved' referring to the stamesn and 'radicans' refers to the aerial rootlets that helps the plant cling on to tree. trunks.
