Comments: Vitex Agnus-castus 'Lavender Lady or Chaste Tree or Vitex is a small tree or shrub with a fast, erect growth habit. In late Spring or early Summer, Vitex Agnus-castus 'Lavender Lady' produces abundant fragrant terminal spikes of small, violet-lavender blossoms followed later by berries. Hummingbirds, bees and butterflies are magnetized by its nectar-rich flowers while the birds have a fiesta with the seeds in the Fall. Chaste Tree has attractive sage-scented, gray-green palmate foliage with silvery undersides. It is easily propagated from seeds or semi-hardwood cuttings. Vitex Agnus-castus 'Lavender Lady' is low maintenance and tolerates drought conditions well. It is excellent for xeriscaping. It is a valuable medicinal tree. In medieval days the monks used it to suppress sexual desires which could also result in increased libido. Females used this for correct hormonal imbalance. Chaste Tree adds colors to the Summer and Fall landscape.
