Weigela is a deciduous shrub with an arching, spreading growth habit. It is a native to China. In late Spring or early Summer, Weigela florida produces pink, bell-shaped blossoms, borne on old growth. Hummingbirds and butterflies are magnetized by the nectar-rich blossoms. The cut flowers make a lovely bouquet. Pink Weigela has dark green foliage. It is easily propagated from cuttings and thrives best in well-drained, average to rich highly acidic to neutral soil in a sunny environment. Weigela florida is low maintenance. It can be pruned to maintain size and shape. Use Pink Weigela in a mixed shrub border for a showy display.
