Comments: Arundo donax 'Variegata' or Arundo donax var. versicolor
or Arundo versicolor or Striped Giant Reed is an interesting tropical
bamboo-like plant
that is very easy to grow. This herbaceous drought-tolerant plant is
clump-forming and has a moderate growth rate. It has hollow stems
that have been used to make the traditional clarinets and bagpipes. I love the lovely
cream-tan varigation in the foliage. Looks very nice especially in
winter. Arundo donax 'Variegata' is a great plant for soil
erosion control, privacy fencing, borders or as specimen or accent
plants. They are gorgeous looking when planted in masses.
