Comments: Allium aflatunense or Persian Onion or Flowering Onion
Allium is a pretty
perennial bulb plant with a long-lasting showy display.
This plant is heat
and drought tolerant and is
easily grown from bulb division or seeds. Persian Onion is
pollinated by insects and bees. These plants look very dramatic when grown in
masses in beddings, borders or in containers to accent the patio or deck.
Flowering Onion Allium does not have the characteristic smell of garlic
and is known to repel insects and moles. Protect
plants from frost. Allium aflatunense is easily propagated
by seeds or bulb division or offsets and has to be planted fairly deep.
