Comments: Arum italicum or Italian Arum or Lord and Ladies or
Large Cuckoo Plant is a pretty
herbaceous perennial bulb plant with a clump forming habit. It is
stemless and has showy foliage which does back when plant blooms and the
leaves reappear in the late Fall comes. The bright orange berries of Lord
and Ladies provide Winter interest.
This plant attracts butterflies and is easily grown from tuber division in Fall.
In containers, Large Cuckoo Plant makes a lovely indoor plant, or as a shade
plant outdoors, or grow them in masses to brighten up the borders, or
grow them in a woodland setting.
In colder regions, Arum italicum multiplies itself yearly and is indeed
a nice and unusual plant to have for the garden.
