Blooms:  Beautiful medium blue, star-shaped on tall green scapes, late Spring 
Foliage:   Green, smooth, linear, basal
Soil:  Well-drained, drought tolerant when established
Water:  Regular
Uses: Bedding, borders, mass planting, container, cut flowers
Propagation:  Seeds (sow directly in planting location in Fall)
Caution:  Pollen may cause skin allergy
Comments:  Camassia quamash or Camas or  Camas Lily  or Blue  Camas  or Quamash or Western  Camas is a pretty perennial bulb plant with a showy display.  This plant is easily grown from seed.  Quamash adds color to the perennial garden when grown in masses in beddings, perennial borders or containers. Protect Camas Lily from frost. The Camassia quamash bulbs are edible.  The northwestern native Indians used Camassia quamash for food and medicine.
