Comments: Muscari armeniacum or Blue Grape Hyacinth or
Muscari lingulatum or Muscari
praecox or Muscari sintenisii or Muscari tubergenianum
is cold tolerant
and is an attractive perennial bulb. It is low-maintenance
it self-seeds. Blue Grape Hyacinth puts on
a lovely display of beautiful blooms on short stems.when planted in masses
at a depth of 3" deep in the bedding or perennial border. Grow
Muscari sintenisii
in containers to accent the deck or patio.
Muscari lingulatum blooms are
slightly fragrant so plant more for better fraggrance. The bulbs grow close to the soil surface so be
cautious about planting other perennials on top of them.
They go into dormancy in Summer and return every year in the Fall.
Muscari praecox are carefree plants and do not demand much
attention. Muscari tubergenianum is a 'plant
and forget' bulb until you see blue spikes of flowers appear in the
Spring. Divide every few years as they tend to get crowded.
