Blooms:  Fragrant, upfacing , large, recurved, long-lasting scarlet/white, mid-Summer

Foliage:    Green, deciduous, smooth, alternate, lance-shaped
Soil:  Well-drained
Water:  Drought tolerant
Uses: Bedding, borders, mass planting, container, cut flowers
Propagation:  Bulb division, bulb scales division
Caution:  Pollen may stain clothing
Comments:  Lilium Sumatra or Oriental Lily is a beautiful perennial that is resistant to rots and virus.  Butterflies and hummingbirds love it.   It is easy to grow and make an impact when grown in masses in the border garden.  There will be enough cut flowers to make a lovely bouquet.
