Bryophyllum pinnatum or Bryophyllum calycinum or Cotyledon pinnata or Crassula
pinnata or Kalanchoe pinnata var. calcicola is an attractive tropical perennial
with evergreen succulent leaves. This erect plant can easily be grown from
leaf cuttings and lay them on top of the soil. Cut stems are also easily
propagated. Small plantlets
are formed from the fringes of the Cathedral Bells leaves; when these
plantlets drop, they root easily. In India, Hawaiian Air Leaf is known as Pathar
Chat by the Hindus and they used the leaves in traditional medicine for the
treatment of kidney stones. Leaf of Life is carefree and low
maintenance.
