Family:  Portulacaceae
Light:  Full sun-part shade

Blooms: Pink, small
Foliage:  Variegated, light green and cream leaves on purplish-red stems
Soil:  Mixture of sand, loam, peat and gravel, drought tolerant
Water:  Only when dry.  Overwatering will cause root rot
Uses:  Rock garden, containers, xeriscaping, hanging baskets, indoors

Comments:  Portulacaria afra or Rainbow Bush Variegata or Elephant Bush is a low-growing hardy succulent plant that survives well in dry arid soil.  This is a low-maintenance perennial plant.   Planted in masses, Rainbow Bush Variegata plants look lovely year round and it also makes a beautiful indoor plant with strong interior lighting. Stem cuttings are easily propagated however, allow to callous before planting.
