Origin:  India, Tropical West Africa
Light:  Light shade, bright light
Height:  1.5'-4'
Blooms: Pleasantly fragrant, greenish-white flowers, on simple/branched raceme, when pot bound           
Foliage:  Nice variegation, mottled, bright green on pale green background, sword-like shape, vertical from basal rosette
Soil:  Well-drained, sandy with peat or potting mix with dolomite limestone added for calcium and magnesium (ph: 5.5-7.5)

Water:  Only when dry.  Overwatering can cause root rot
Propagation: Divide rhizomes, cuttings
Uses:  Xeriscaping, indoor plant

or Snake Plant or Devil's Tongue or Mother-In-Law's Tongue or Bowstring Hemp or Snakeskin Plant or Good Luck Plant or Lucky Plant is a carefree, drought-tolerant succulent that produces a green berry fruit.  This plant is popularly used indoors as an air filter plant for its ability to to cleanse the air in the atmosphere.  It spreads by rhizomes and it is advisible to propagate by rhizomes so that its variegation would  be retained..  Mother-In-Law's Tongue plants love humidity and can tolerate outdoor temperature of up to 28 degrees F.
