Origin:  Native to south-eastern United States,  Mexico, West Indies
Family:  Agavaceae

Long stalk, clusters, fragrant, white, purplish-tinged, at tip of trunk
Foliage:  Green, stiff with dagger-like leaf tips
Soil:  Light, sandy, neutral-acidic, drought tolerant

Seeds, offsets, root cuttings
Uses:   Xeriscaping, landscaping, back of the border, rock garden
Caution:  This plant has sharp needle-like leaf tips.  Avoid planting near walkways
Comments: 
Yucca aloifolia or Dagger Plant or Spanish Bayonet is a tall and handsome single-stemmed rosette succulent plant with an erect trunk. This beautiful cactus plant produces offsets near base of trunk which gradually forms a thicket.  Yucca aloifolia is a low-maintenance, carefree and very easy to grow cactus. It makes a statement in the xeriscaping landscape especially during blooming season with its long-lasting flowers.  Interesting to note that Yucca flower is the state flower of  New Mexico.
