Comments:  Pelargonium fragrans or Nutmeg Geranium or Sweet-leaved Geranium is a lovely perennial with a nutty trailing habit.  This evergreen plant is bushy and cannot tolerate frost so it has to be protected in Winter or brought indoors.  Prune Sweet-leaved Geranium in Spring to promote better growth. The side shoots can be easily rooted.  Grow this versatile plant in a container to accent for the patio or grow in a hanging basket or windowbox and allow the plant to show off its lovely long stems. Pelargonium fragrans produces an essential oil.  The flowers and leaves are edible.  The crushed leaves are used as flavor in cakes, jellies, fruit salads or in coffee.  The pine-scented dried leaves are used in pot-pourri and aroatherapy.  Pelargonium fragrans is a wonderful plant to have.
