Comments:  Mentha spicata or Spearmint or English Mint is a perennial herbal plant that is very easy to grow.  It is a fast grower and has a matted spreading root system.  Mentha spicata can be grown either in a container to control its spread. Fresh or dried  Spearmint leaves can be made into medicinal tea to clean your digestive system, also used in mint jelly.  It is really handy to have Mentha spicata mint plants at hands reach whenever you needed it.
The bees and butterflies love to feed on the nectar on the English Mint blossoms, especially the Monarch and White and Sulphur butterflies.  Mentha spicata is easily propagated from cuttings or divisions and it thrives well with much neglect in the sunny or part shade garden.  Spearmint makes lovely hanging baskets plants.
